The Launch of Overwatch

Gamers have been patiently waiting for a long time for the game Overwatch to finally be released.  The game is a team-based shooter which offers 21 heroes, 6 game modes, and 12 maps.  Spanning across multiple platforms, Overwatch offers spectacular gameplay for even the most discerning gamer.

The Overwatch beta garnered some amazingly high statistics. According to their website, during the beta, over 9.7 million gamers in more than 190 countries played the beta. They completed 37,623,607 matches and 4.9 billion minutes played collectively – that’s 9,380 YEARS worth of gaming.  With such a great showing in the beta, it isn’t surprising that the actual release would be very popular.

Blizzard released the following map to show that Overwatch was being officially launched at the same time across the globe.  Regardless of whether it was the middle of the night or mid-afternoon, gamers could settle in and get ready to, as said on the Overwatch website, “fight for the future.

Within the world, heroes formed a group called Overwatch to bring peace to a world which was torn apart by violence, crime, and war.  Although they disbanded, the game begins when the heroes are called back together to begin fighting against the same issue.  This game offers 6 heroes for offense, 6 heroes for defense, 5 heroes for tank, and 4 heroes for support.

Overwatch is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Who has started playing it already? What are your thoughts?  Which hero are you loving so far? Let us know!
